On the Eve of the Election

On the eve before the election tomorrow I say a prayer to God and hope for the best for our nation. I believe our country is at a crossroads. We must choose between a path of darkness or one of light, fairness and opportunity for all. This blog is how I think our future will look depending on which candidate wins.

If the Republicans win this election, we’ll see our nation sink into darkness, prejudice and war. The Republicans claim they will help the people, but I don’t think so. For workers, we’ll see less jobs while those jobs that are left will become minimum wage pay with no benefits. We’ll see the end of social security and any other programs that help the poor so that the wealthy won’t have to pay any taxes to help anyone. We’ll be in constant wars with other nations as we live out the faded dreams of glory of an old soldier that can’t accept the loss of Vietnam. We’ll see the environment destroyed and the climate change to hellish conditions in the name of corporate greed. Our economy will slip into a new depression. Worst of all, we’ll see the further erosion of our rights. Women will lose the right to choose. Workers will lose the rights of jobs with decent wages and benefits. The right to protest will disappear because it goes against the status quo. Freedom of the press won’t be far behind. The Christian fundamentalists will want to take away our freedom of religion and put Christianity as the national religion. These are just a few of the horrible things I see on that path of darkness. Our nation will go backwards not forwards.

The Democrats bring a path of brightness with hope and change. Hope is a better motivator for us. The better path should lead to more and better jobs. We should all have health care as a right instead of worrying about health or having private insurance companies playing God with people’s lives. The next ten ears will hopefully see us off of foreign oil as we switch to alternative types of energy. This will create jobs, help the environment and provide energy for us. There will be better opportunity for all the people and success. Innovation will be encouraged instead of greed. There are so many other things to be hoped for with the Democrats.

So I hope Barack Obama wins. Should the Republicans prevail in the election tomorrow I have only one thing to say. GOD HELP US ALL!!!
