Rich People as Politicians
Rich people that run for political office do not and will not represent the average citizen. Once in office, most will only push issues that will benefit them and their fellow rich people. A case in point is Meg Whitman running for governor in California. She has a plan that she has put out of what she wants to do.
One is to eliminate the capital gains tax. That will put her taxes and other rich people’s to zero. This is how most of them make a lot of their money, not through salaries. It won’t benefit the middle class or people who have to pay income taxes on their salaries.
Another idea for jobs is to cut business taxes. These already low in this state at around eight percen. This will only help the big corporations that make huge profits while not providing jobs for people.
She says she’ll put people back to work with jobs. What kind of jobs? Low wage, part time jobs with no benefits. She wants to break the unions, so almost everybody will have crappy jobs while corporate CEOs continue to make obscene salaries. The other question is jobs for who? When she was the head of Ebay, she outsourced jobs and wanted to bring in foreign workers on special visas so she wouldn’t have to pay Amercans decent wages. This won’t help Californians get jobs.
Finally, she complains about welfare in this state going to too many people. She probably plans to cut people on welfare off. This will be an excuse for the rich not having to pay for those who live in poverty through no fault of their own.
So, this rich woman is not going to help the average Californian. She’s only going to make things easier for the wealthy and fat corporate people by cutting their taxes and making our lives miserable.
